Work Started on Next Business Living Office Scheme (29/08/2007)

BUILDING work has now started on Phase One of the Business Living office units on a six-acre site at York Business Park.

It follows the start of work on Novus, a new £5m hi-tech office scheme comprising eight `hybrid’ units, on an adjacent site, specifically designed to meet the needs of science and technology enterprises. Novus is also part of Business Living.

Phase 1 of the Business Living offices, aimed at small businesses and investors, will comprise six two-storey units of between 2,600 sq ft and 5,100 sq ft, in a landscaped setting. They are due to be completed by contractors GMI Construction Group Plc, Leeds, by early next year. Two further phases of Business Living are in the pipeline.

Business Living managing director, Iain Robertson, says: “We are delighted that Phase 1 of our York scheme has now started on site in a city with a strong entrepreneurial culture and a shortage of modern, bright, easy-to-maintain office space.

“This is a speculative scheme but we have confidence in the York market because of the city’s thriving SME community, the growing preference for freehold property and the fantastic location which offers easy access to York ring road and Clifton Moor Retail Park where there are many amenities to support the growing sophistication of small enterprises.

“There is already significant interest in this new Business Living scheme and we hope to announce our first deals in the next few months.”
